Walnut and Glass
The Walnut and Glass coffee table was the pinnacle of my work while in Georgia. It was sold shortly after it was completed, which was great because we were moving. At the same time, I would have liked to had some time to enjoy it. The Walnut wood came from another local craftsman who had some extra hardwood that he was not using. I grabbed it as fast as I could. The glass added some diversity to my work as well as made the piece a little lighter. This table is very light for it’s size – about 30 lbs.
The Details: The table is 42″ long, 21″ wide and about 18″ tall. The 8000psi concrete is made from white cement with a tan sand and a faint walnut pigment. The walnut wood frame is about 1″x1″ and joined together with no metal fasteners. The glass is about 30″ long, 9″ wide, and 3/8″ thick. The concrete is reinforced with steel channel as well as glass fiber.
