The rustic hall table began with a large chunk of wood.  Using 4 different saws and a slough of other power tools, the result is what you see here, a mountain of sawdust, and enough scrap wood to burn non-stop for a week.  This is my current favorite because of the natural beauty of the wood.  The wood is predominantly spalted red oak.  It exhibits both pigmentation variation and zone lines.

The Details:  The top is about 30″x14″ and 2″ thick.  It has lightly ground white concrete in the center and the leg tops are visible.  The top has a high gloss epoxy that gives it a nice shine and feels like glass.  This epoxy also will protect the top up to 120 degrees and is wear resistant.  The bark was left on and sealed.  The legs are roughly 2″x2″ and half of the sides were left rough sawn.  They have been finished with numerous coats of urethane.  It currently stands 29″ tall, but may be shortened if there is a new owner that would like it otherwise.
